These are species which have been seen one or two or three times, but the rare sightings were unsupported by documentation. A lone Great Blue Heron stalked prey in the shallows, eventually taking flight when a family (and their dog) made it to the sand. Given the unique birding opportunities and my well-documented love for boardwalks, I’m positive I’ll return. Enjoying the network of boardwalks.

In the mean time, a family group of Black-throated Magpie-Jays were frolicking in the breeze high over the dry valley, showing off their exorbitantly long tail streamers. It did not take long before we had a family group of Tufted Jays right by the side of the road (KM 216) and an uncommon Gray-collared Becard at the same spot.

Claudia Hollm saw a TV show about a family who had to relinquish their dog because of economic hardship. The family simply did not have enough money to feed their beloved dog and with breaking hearts they relinquished him to a shelter where he died shortly thereafter of a broken heart after being so loved by this family for many years.
