The stories of working dogs will warm your heart and open your eyes to just how much our canine companions really know! We were not disappointed!

They only had until March 5 because the apartment they were moving to would not allow dogs. My boss couldn't take the dogs because he already has a very needy dog, a cat and a new baby. Luckily, I have a coworker who volunteers with Seattle Purebred Rescue. Some rescuers think it's simply a dog-hater.

I think there are many disreputable breeders, I think they are increasing a bloated supply of pets, and I think there are many purebreds already available from shelters. She could try to find a purebred that's been left at a shelter because that frequently happens. I am no fan of breeders, I'll admit it.

I didn’t get my first dog until I was 20, but since then I have been making up for lost time. Today I own 40 outdoor dogs and two more who live indoors! Start with easier pets – Many people don’t want to start with the responsibility of a dog or cat. A particularly excitable dog is not necessary.

Save the Planet: Adopting a shelter pet not only saves a life, but it reduces demand for purebred animals, which are more likely to have medical problems due to genetic abnormalities. Shift-It Tip: If you’re set on a purebred dog or cat, buy one from a rescue association instead of getting a pedigree from a breeder.

No dog is happier to be rescued. She put a dog bed outside with some food and water, and I’d see her checking on me about every five minutes. We dogs are wired by nature to be humans’ companions. After all, dogs have the longest history of co-habitation with humans of any animal. Get a street dog. I was safe.
