Al Franken (suck on that Bill O'Reilly) has introduced a bill to increase the number of service dogs for vets returning from Iraq and Afghanistan. My bill will help train a statistically significant number of dogs to measure the benefits to veterans with physical and emotional wounds.

And the morning before the Mkuze pack of Painted Wolves, or African Wild Dogs, had been very close to one of the park’s few Lions, as far as tracking collars had told. We hadn’t been on the road long before a shout went out that a dog had been seen, and we quickly turned back, and there was my first Painted Wolf in Mkuze.

The Dublin Dog Foundation (DDF) has partnered with Freedom Service Dogs, Inc. The DDF will be raising $20,000 for the training and care of a service dog (including medical bills, training and food) which will be donated to one lucky war vet from the FSD group. About The Dublin Dog Foundation.

Owen County Friends of Animals (KY) is a non-profit organization that fosters and seeks adoptions for the dogs picked up by their local dog warden. Dogs they can not place in foster care or find adoptive homes for are euthanized after 14 days by county ordinance. He came to OCFA totally flea infested and with a few open wounds.

Cat and dog rescuers share with wildlife rehabilitators the unfortunate burden of healing the hurt caused by other humans. They pointed out the puncture wounds, likely infected with bacteria that could quickly kill. Like many people who grew up in my era, our childhood dogs and cats went outdoors. And, I would have understood.

Lick granuloma is a serious skin problem in dogs and occurs when dogs continuously lick a certain area, which then becomes inflamed and sore. Lick granuloma is a vicious cycle as constant licking of the skin creates irritation and pain which then causes more licking and dog scratching.

And after a $250 vet trip it became this--. What we couldn't see until her leg was shaved was that next to the deep wound is a large bloody bump of a wound. Charles Hobson Booger, III has been to I believe 4 vets (some several times) and hasn't been able to use his back right leg for 5 months (and yes, atrophy has set in).
