This abundance by no means meant theat they are easy to see, and I got quite a sore neck from peering into the canopy. The more interesting ducks mainly pass through in winter, and now all the action appears to be on the terrestrial side. Eurasian Blackcaps, while even more common, are also always a pleasure.

. … The delicious mojito that I gulped down with lunch had sufficiently numbed my poor, sore butt enough that getting back on the bike caused no pain. On to a small pond where we hoped to see a dabbling duck or two but found only more bupkis.

Rumor has it that the sorely-needed authoritative book on flycatchers is in the works…it can not be published quickly enough. For example, in California, populations of birds like Aleutian Cackling Goose have dramatically increased…but where did our Fulvous Whistling-Ducks go? 6) Taxonomy.

Yes, I wanted to also say to him "Yeah dogs are great, but you didn't see my multi-year relationship with Mr. Magoo, a Muscovy duck who was blind in one eye." There are duck stories and elephant stories and pig stories, but the reason we hear about them is because they are extraordinary. But he then addresses that.

Most of the deer and duck hunters I know lament the loss of an old growth forest or flood-plain swamp as much as I do. &# The answer is clear to me, but I’m discovering there’s more discord in my Utopian vision of conservation than I at first cared to see. Likewise for the anglers.
