There are several funding sources for the MBCF, but two predominate: (1) Duck Stamp sales, and (2) import duties on arms and ammunition. Thus, Duck Stamp money goes into the MBCF and the MBCC decides how to spend those funds.

Thank a Republican for Trying to Strip All Protections from Migratory Birds

But this attempt by Congressmen Duncan of South Carolina to completely prevent any enforcement of the Migratory Bird Treaty Act is beyond the pale, even for bird-hating Republicans. This is not the first time that I have pointed out the perfidy of Republicans in United States government as it relates to birds or conservation.

Rev. Bachman’s Lost Warbler

A weird mussel-eating duck. He discovered the little black-bibbed warbler in 1832 in the canebrakes of coastal South Carolina on one of his frequent outings, collected it, and sent the skins on to John James Audubon who eventually named the species he would never see after his friend. A slight, transhemispheric curlew.
