I am still tired from the long drive, but it was great to play with the very best toys for birders, to be able to share experiences and to ask the factory staff all sorts of silly questions. At the end of the 20th century (and before the ELs were born), the factory hired consultants to help it restructure and maximise profits.

Second, every raptor we encountered was identified as Tawny Eagle. Apart from a juvenile Southern Beardless Tyrannulet we were just seeing roads and factories. And yes, Sable Antilope is very cool, but birds are sub-zero cool! And it was birds we came for, so his customer service wasn’t great. Of course, the trip was a disaster.

For example, not much can beat the experience of seeing a Bald Eagle scare up thousands of Snow Geese at Sacramento NWR. I wrote about Waterfowl Production Areas in this region (America’s duck factories) and want to visit, though the details of visiting an area that spans 100,000 square miles are to be determined.
