And yes, this species lives in Quetzal Valley, a place that actually does exist! On a recent visit, I was reminded of that when we saw the feathered remains of an Ornate Hawk-Eagle feast.

This particular land near the Tennessee-Georgia border is critical as a protection for Taylor Branch, a tributary of the Conasauga River. Bald Eagle. The one bird I did not see here, however, was the Bateleur Eagle … One highlight in the area is the Saddle-billed Stork , likely to be the tallest species in the stork family. The Ochraceous Bulbul looks similar to the Puff-throated Bulbul, with which it shares a genus – the similarity made one of my travel companions doubt the whole framework of species distinctions. I am a birder and I can claim that out of Serbia’s total of 350+ bird species, highly urbanised inner city areas of Belgrade hold almost 100 birds, while the outskirts have more than 200 species. eBird says that, at the time of writing (April 2017), there are some ten hotspots that have crossed the 100 bird species mark.

This was the first geological site protected in the Djerdap area, formed along a fault by incision of the Boljetinska River into the sedimentary rocks. Other species include Grey Wagtail and Marsh Tit. is known as the northernmost range of holly ( Ilex aquifolium ), a relict evergreen species, in Serbia and the only site in Djerdap.
