A few Eurasian Tree Sparrows land by my car as I am scanning for Purple and Squacco Herons , Pygmy Cormorants and Black-necked Grebes in their brilliant breeding plumage. An immature White-tailed Eagle.

Like if you feel that seeing a friendly chattering House Sparrow was a good bird, then it indeed was. With that same glee, he told me how he enjoyed watching the sparrows in his garden, how the males courted the females, fought over seeds, always chattering. He had a heart of gold, you could see it in his eyes.

I was ecstatic when we found two giraffes by the side of the road “necking”, which I found out is a male test of strength and dominance, not a romantic entanglement. This immature Verreaux’s Eagle-owl was one of the first birds I saw at Kruger, on the introductory afternoon ride through the park.

The real test of hummingbird bonds came in 2004. Did Vanna love his cage partner? Would they return?

They asked me to anthropomorphize and say things like, “eagles fall in love for life.” There are very few that stand the test of time. Can you come up with an outline and a sample chapter based on that title?”. My first outline and sample chapter was rejected for being “too technical.” Have I somehow overlooked another section?
