Saving the Spotted Owl—Zalea’s Story: A KidLit Bird Book Review

10,000 Birds

Award-winning free-lance science journalist Nicola Jones , most noted for her work on climate change and environmental issues, ventured into the book world with a picture book on the wildlife rehabilitation efforts for one of North America’s most endangered bird species, the Northern Spotted Owl. With a readership primarily of students, Jones—wisely, I believe—refrained from including the controversial efforts to kill Barred Owls in order to save the spotted ones.

Young pigeon needs help

Reddit Animals

We found a young pigeon in our garden last night but It didn't move at all. After a few hours it tried to fly away but crashed into the wall and hovered back down to the ground. It then landed on my basketball hoop so I left it for the night as it was late. The next morning (today) I went to check on it and it was still on the hoop it eventually came down.

Heat Lamp Questions

Reddit Animals

Okay! So, I live in the basement at my mom’s house. My fiancé, my 3 month old daughter and I all live down here. My mom, sisters and her boyfriend have the upstairs. Upstairs gets really hot in the summer & when the heat is on. Downstairs either gets reallllly hot since our room is beside the furnace or it gets realllly cold because that’s the basement and the A/C is on.
