The site counts about 1000 unique sessions per day – in the last 30 days, on average 1006, to be exact – some days a hundred more, sometimes a hundred fewer. Who reads 10,000 Birds? A slight majority of visits (56%) come from the USA, where 10,000 Birds was founded.

Lake Constance (of the Bodensee in German) is a huge lake on the border of Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. The place is very popular among tourists of these and many other countries, with extensive tourist infrastructure in place in most towns around the lake.

By Dominic Mitchell Dominic Mitchell’s earliest birding memory is of seeing an Atlantic Puffin off the Bass Rock, in Scotland’s Firth of Forth, in 1967 at the age of seven. He trained as a journalist, founded Birdwatch magazine in 1992, and ran the title, and latterly also BirdGuides, until 2019.
