Hint: you’ve probably got them at home. Brooklyn, NY - July 29, 2010: Kelly Clarke, a volunteer at The Pixie Project–an animal rescue and adoption service based in Portland, OR–would love for you to look around your home and think about what you can spare. “Some people don’t have cash to donate but they have hundreds of other items in their homes that are needed,” says Kelly.
Thanks, once again, to James LaVeck and Jenny Stein of Tribe of Heart for kindly and carefully bringing attention to what should be a stunningly-obvious moment of hypocrisy by groups that exist to advocate for and save animals. I understand how someone who supports the Humane Society of the United States might think an event celebrating "humane" farms would be a good id, as HSUS isn't an animal rights organization.
April Jean Evans was a NASA engineer, but resigned her position in protest over radiation experiments on monkeys. That takes a lot of courage and conviction. She's living with her brother now and falling into debt, but she is dedicated to working with PETA and other organizations to try to ban primates in experiments. It was a PETA protest outside her work location that alerted her to the experiments in the first place.showing that any action in defense of animals may have impacts on people that
A Humane Egg The life of animals raised in confinement on industrial farms is slowly improving, thanks to pressure from consumers, animal rights advocates, farmers and legislators. In late June, a compromise was reached in Ohio that will gradually put an end to the tiny pens used for raising veal calves and holding pregnant sows, spaces so small the animals can barely move.

Good pet health is closely related to grooming. When well taken care of, animals do feel great. The best dog grooming you can provide to your four-legged friend depends on several factors: your budget, the breed, the size of the dog and its personality. Moreover, nail cutting, hair combing and ear cleaning have to become part of the grooming routine performed regularly.

Let’s say you have a brutal day at the office. Rubbernecking traffic made you an hour late for work, and the boss made you stay late for a pointless meeting. By the time you make it home, you’re absolutely spent and your shoulders are sore. A massage would really hit the spot right about now, wouldn’t it? Fido can’t voice his opinion, but he feels the same way.
Today’s Cute of the Day comes from a very unique animal rescue group. This weird little blog post on MSNBC says yes. It claims that one reason women may hoard animals more often is because we’re biologically hardwired to take care of things. It makes sense to me. Lawmakers in Catalonia's regional parliament approved the controversial ban, 68-55, with nine abstentions, after emotional speeches that mixed expressions of support for preserving tradition with denunciations of bullfighting as institutio

It's the "gift" that keeps on giving. From the Khaleej Times Online/AFP. Scientists studying the massive BP oil spill fear a decades-long, “cascading” effect on marine life that could lead to a shift in the overall biological network in the Gulf of Mexico. With some 400 species estimated to be at risk — from the tiniest oil-eating bacteria to shrimp and crabs, endangered sea turtles, brown pelicans and sperm whales — experts say the impact of oil and chemical dispersants on the food chain has al
