Gray-headed Kite destroys wasp nest.

10,000 Birds

We join proceedings a little way in as it took a few moments to find a good vantage point and find an acceptable camera exposure level. Thankfully, we have already passed the bit where I humiliate myself in front of 22 Brazilian soccer players by tripping on my laces when trying to kick back their stray football. I first noticed the bird as it flew up from the ground and into the tree.

4 The Love Of Animals

Did you know that every year, of the 8 million dogs and cats that enter animal shelters, 3 million of these healthy and treatable pets are euthanized? It is such a sad statistic, you can read even more about the.

How to Read Your Audience and Structure Your Multi-Channel Marketing Accordingly

Sales and Marketing Management

Author: Staff Take a minute to think about something that everybody loves. Is it chocolate? As weird as it might sound, not everybody likes it. Maybe you are thinking about vacations? Stillwater Artisanal with Oliver Brewing Co.: Tuppence (Feed the Birds)

10,000 Birds

Today is the exact midpoint of winter in the Northern Hemisphere, halfway between the winter solstice and spring equinox. This means we’re also in the middle of prime feeder-watching season, and I suspect many of you have been busy filling up your backyard feeders for all the grateful little gangs of finches, chickadees, and jays. There are some birds looking to be fed on the label of this week’s beer, too, which is an excellent collaboration from Baltimore brewers Stillwater Artisanal and Olive

I screamed: Ural Owl!

10,000 Birds

I screamed “UralOwlUralOwlUralOwl!!!”, all the time pointing with my right hand while holding the steering wheel with my left, and the hardest thing, keeping my eyes on the road. Fortunately, B. managed to see it, his largest owl ever. I had just a split-second glimpse of this species – my only second ever – yet immediately knew what is it, but I was driving through a snowbound countryside and had another car behind me, therefore I stopped a good 50 metres later to eBird it.

Best Bird of the Weekend (Last of January 2018)

10,000 Birds

The first month of 2018 is nearly in the books. At the conclusion of every month, we might ask ourselves, “Did I see enough or well enough these past weeks?” With hope, our answers improve with every month. I saw nothing this weekend I hadn’t seen earlier in January, but White-winged Scoters earn respect every time they turn up. The common scoters of Lake Ontario, these seaducks bring a strong, dark presence to our winter shores.

Top 25 National Wildlife Refuges for Birding

10,000 Birds

There are more than 550 national wildlife refuges in the United States, with at least one in every state and one within an hour drive of almost every major American city. Many were specifically established for migratory birds and are strategically positioned along one of the four major North American migration flyways. Others were established to protect specific bird species or subspecies.

How Many Waterfowl Can Be Found in Queens in a Day?

10,000 Birds

This past Sunday I led a birding outing in Queens for New York City Audubon. The focus of the trip was ducks and we hit a couple of hotspots in central Queens, Baisley Pond Park and Willow Lake Preserve, and then we took a quick stop at World’s Fair Marina to track down a few more species. For the six hours of the field trip, nearly two hours of which were just getting back and forth from Manhattan, we totaled eighteen species of waterfowl.

Heading out on the road

10,000 Birds

And so the next chapter begins. By the time most of you will be reading this, we will be on the road. As of midnight, February 31st, I am officially retired. Let the full time birding begin. At approximately 7:00 AM MT, we will begin our drive north, leaving our beloved La Paz, Mexico after 7 great years. While we have a bit of a deadline to get to Seattle, approximately 3000 miles north of here, we plan on making each driving day a short one, with a stop in some of the Baja’s best birding hotsp

Broome Poo Ponds-Barndarlmarda Hut

10,000 Birds

For many years we have peered through the fence at the Poo Ponds here in Broome and we have stood on our roo bars, balanced on the side steps, stood on roof racks and stood in the back of trays of utes in a desperate attempt to see into the ponds! We have driven around slowly and pondered over the areas we can’t see properly and wondered what species of bird are eluding us!

Networking Like a Madman: Backfilling Your Pipeline

Sales and Marketing Management

Author: Jeff Naeem We are inundated with people trying to contact us, and with so many choices we want to know the company and the person’s background before we consider doing business with them. That’s why referrals are so powerful. They are implied endorsements of someone’s quality and credibility. I always knew networking was a great avenue to develop business, but I never thought it could be nearly your entire sales strategy.

Where Are You Birding This First Weekend of February 2018?

10,000 Birds

Are you excited? The biggest holiday observed in the United States falls this weekend and, for the fifth time in six years, a team named for a bird is part of the festivities. I’m not saying birders should automatically be rooting for the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl or even suggesting that I, a devout Giants fan, would ever lower myself to do so.
