Whiskey Month at Birds and Booze: After going on hiatus last year, Birds and Booze’s Whiskey Week at 10,000 Birds is back and setting its sights on whiskeys all month long this February. The cold and dreary dead of winter is as good a reason as any to warm up with a restorative dram of uisce, especially after a blustery morning spent scanning flocks of gulls on an icy shore, trudging through woodland snowdrifts in search of new year-birds, or any other half-crazed birding one does in the d
When should a startup hire its first sales rep? Fortunately, there are some clear indications as to when the right time hits. The post When to Hire That First Sales Rep appeared first on Sales & Marketing Management.
One of the most regularly traversed roads for the purpose of birding on the island of Trinidad is the Arima-Blanchisseuse Road. With the most extensive altitude profile of any roadway in the country, one can drive from sea level to a modest 600m through lush tropical rainforest the entire way. Most folks who have come here for birding have stayed at the Asa Wright Nature Centre (likely reopening later this year – but more on that to come) which is located along this picturesque road.
There are large flocks of Little Corellas in Broome that relocate both morning and evening. They mostly fly over the native bush out the back of our property, but when the native trees are in seed they land. The Little Corellas crunch away at the seeds and continue on their journey. Every now and then we have a pair of Little Corellas land in our garden where there are also native plants and a reliable source of water all year round.
In my never-ending quest to expand my year list, Monday the 24th took me to the area of La Escalera/El Palmar/Arúmbaro. This is my best place to pick up species that inhabit, or visit, the border between the Hot Country thorn forest and highland pine-oak forest habitats. I dipped on one of my favorite birds from this area, the Lesser Roadrunner , as well as the marvelous Sparkling-tailed Woodstar (a long-tailed hummingbird).
I have recently written about the American Birding Association, as it is currently searching for a new president. As indicated in a prior post , the ABA is in debt and has routinely run annual operating deficits. Since that post, the ABA has updated the financial disclosures page on its website, so there is new information. Additionally, I was curious how the ABA arrived at its precarious financial position, so I did some historical research and decided to share the results.
A comparatively short report this month, as I spent some time away from Shanghai and was afraid of venturing around too much and accidentally staying in an area with covid cases, which would have made travel within China even more difficult than it already is … Anyway, in January, coastal Fengxian was the site of one of the bigger birding attractions of Shanghai.

Customers are far less steadfast in their devotion than they were just two years ago. As customers evolve, brands need to evolve as well so their messaging is in line with customers' desires. AI-powered systems have helped enterprises automate bid management in three key areas, ultimately saving bid managers valuable time while not impacting their productivity and quality of work. The post How AI Drives Effective Bid Management in Sales appeared first on Sales & Marketing Management.
Turtles are the reptile everybody loves. At the very least appreciated for their hard-shell adaptation, the way they quietly survive in ponds, rivers, oceans, islands, forests, even, for a few species, deserts, and, if you are of a certain age, their cultural depiction as ninja warriors. Birders are always happy to see a turtle or tortoise, and there are times of the year when my social media feeds are sprinkled with photos of turtles beings removed from roads or crawling to land to lay eggs.
