Best Bird of the Weekend (Second of August 2020)

10,000 Birds

Sliding into mid-August in New York feels like the easing into a Jacuzzi: the heat may be intense to start, but the good times are just getting started. Many of the most infrequent shorebird visitors to the greater Rochester area prefer to hide out on an island in the mouth of Braddock Bay. Not just for the birds

10,000 Birds

If you read my last post, you will know that my last three weekly outings were not overly productive, as far as birds are concerned. I blame, in chronological order, an unexpectedly dry lake, an unexplained lack of avian activity, and lots of drizzle. 10,000 Birds

I had already joined the American Ornithological Society (AOS) because I thought it would be a good source for topics for articles and posts on 10000 Birds, so I received the email announcement and follow-ups for “NAOC 2020.

Essential Leadership Behaviors for Uncertain Times

Sales and Marketing Management

Author: Larry Prince The unassailable business leadership lesson taught by the COVID crisis is: Your people need you more than ever – and you need them more than ever. This mutual reliance speaks to the need for clear and inclusive decision making. Yet privately, business owners and leaders are confessing that the fog of uncertainty has led to an indecisiveness that affects their people’s engagement, focus and performance.

Sales Leads Are a Perishable Asset

Sales and Marketing Management

Author: David Hoang How you manage leads makes the difference between a wasted investment and a solid return on investment. Once your company spends money to find a prospect, the clock starts ticking. Each inquiry has a life span. Some of the leads may take a year to buy something, some may take six months and some will only take a few months or a few days.

World birding from a Schrödinger’s house

10,000 Birds

What I truly hate about the pandemic is that it mentally puts me back into the 1990s in the Balkans. Tensions, failing economy, depression and that feeling of living day by day (under the rule of a local dictator, or, to be politically correct – but why? – “autocrat”), afraid of what the autumn brings and not being able to make plans for a longer period.
