I’m sure many in Europe will remember a world without Collared Doves (Streptopelia decaocto) but the younger ones will never have experienced a world without these ubiquitous town birds.

my mom got a saluki puppy and my cats are afraid of him and have retreated to the back of the house and only come out at night when he’s asleep and it’s really making me sad because i don’t really like dogs and want my cats to feel like the house is safe for them when he’s out. I have a flame point x tabby boy who comes out sometimes but the puppy is so energetic that he ends up p **g my cat off and he retreats again.

Goodbye August, I won’t be sorry to see you go. Unless you happen to live near the coast, in which case there are plenty of migrant waders to see, August is pretty much a duff month for birds in England. There’s not much song, many spring migrants have already departed south for their winter quarters, while the majority of residents are moulting, so become shy and difficult to see.

A pattern seems to be developing this summer, of birds with really striking faces. First there was the Lesser Ground-Cuckoo, a species I had long wanted to see. The perfect views it gave us made the wait well worthwhile. I wrote about this encounter a month ago. The following week, I finally got some great photos of a male Ruddy Duck with its fantastic reproductive blue bill.

Continuing our hike from the Karwendel (covered in my last post), my friends and I descended into the Isar river valley and hiked up 1000 meters in altitude to arrive at the Arnspitz hut in the afternoon. After regaining enough energy through a small meal, we decided to try the ascent to the summit 300 meters above the hut in the evening.

When I read about wolves, I always see that fully white wolves are only present in the American arctic (Canada, Greenland and Alaska) and that in general American wolves display a bigger variety of colors than their Eurasian counterparts. There is however an old documentary about Russian/Soviet animals where you can see several fully white specimens as well as some others which are fully black which I did find odd ( [link] the segment about wolves start at around 42:30).

My friend is a zoology major (we go to the same college) so his roommate and I thought of doing something along the lines of animal themed, but obviously anything you search is aimed at children’s parties.

So me and a mate from work found a bird (a crow I think) tied to a tree, its foot was wrapped with fishing line around the branches. No idea how it got there, we took it in the workshop and carefully cut the fishing line. We were concerned that it had broken it’s foot trying to fly when tied to the branch but it seemed alright, good deed for the day done!

Our cat has developed an eye infection in the last 24 hours. We gave her spray for relief and have a topical coming tomorrow. We also planned on taking her to the vet in the morning. Is this a good plan, or is it bad enough that we should seek an emergency vet appointment tonight? Any advice is appreciated!

Domesticated dogs,Dingos, Hyenas, Coyotes, Foxes, Wolves all look the same with little to no differences. context, these animals look so much like each other that it is very surprising that I haven't thought of this sooner. A show where these guys are a circle of friends that just do stuff together.

I need to take my cat to the vet for blood work and some other tests as he has been sick since about Saturday evening. My vet requires an $85 deposit for services that are more than $85 otherwise for services less than $85, they require payment ahead of time. Right now, I've been short on money as I had to get a new catalytic converter system put in my car last Wednesday.

Ok so I went to a zoo the other day, and there were two brown bears in an enclosure. One ,which I assume was female, was urinating. Nothing weird about that. But the other bear was drinking it while it was falling. Like when you drink water from a tap, something around those lines. Can anyone explain to me why it did that????

We came home and noticed my dog had his head busted and blood spots all over his head and neck. I have 2 other dogs but i doubt they did this(one is a GSD and other Poodle Mix) and the tip of his ear is bitten off. What could of done this? A cat? A Hawk?

There’s two dogs that we leave at the property and we stopped by and found this ear. We can’t find the goat anywhere. What animal could’ve gone this? The second picture is a picture of one of the two dogs that stay there with them. They’ve been together since they were all little and there wasn’t any blood on the dogs or anywhere.

Hi! I was gone for a few days and my mom had to take my dog out. They went on a walk to a lake and she let the dog loose to enjoy and I guess my dog cut its paws on smth? Or maybe she got a sunburn? Whatever it is, it's bugging her and she's licking them and idk what to do. I don't have any money right now to buy any medicine, but I was wondering if pharmaceutical marigold cream would be ok for her paws?
