We’re fast approaching a preferred time of mine for going out on boats in search of seabirds. The Gulf of Cadiz, from Cadiz itself, right along the coasts of Huelva and the Algarve to Cape St Vincent in Portugal, is a favourite hunting ground of mine and the operators willing to take you out have been on the increase in recent years. The aim is usually to head off to the continental shelf, which can be up to 20 or more nautical miles out depending on your starting point.

Updates to the Horse Protection Act remove the ability for horse industry organizations to train and license inspectors. Instead, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service will screen and train applicants, preferably veterinarians, to be horse protection inspectors.

I have mixed feelings about ranking different bird species. One of my ornithologist friends appears to be happy counting House Sparrows and Eurasian Collared Doves for his lists; he also claims that the eBird name stands for “e(very)Bird counts” I doubt that is really where the name came from, but hey, the sentiment sounds so darned noble.

As I have written before on this site, I consider even a bad day birding to still be a great walk in the woods. And this Monday was not a spectacular birding day. I had stayed up too late on Sunday night doing church accounting, so I got a late start on Monday morning. (The fact that Mexico recently abandoned daylight saving time has made this problem more serious.

After having explored some vineyards above the village of Rüdesheim am Rhein recently, I decided to go birding in a similar area closer to Bonn. I read that the area around Leutesdorf, just north of the city of Koblenz, is a good spot for Rock Bunting , still my main quarry in the area. Similarities between the Golden Nugget Casino penthouse in Atlantic City, New Jersey, and Chichester Cathedral, West Sussex, are not obvious, but there is one. Both buildings host nesting pairs of Peregrines. I’m not sure how many other casinos can boast nesting falcons, but a remarkable number of cathedrals and churches in Britain now do so, along with many famous buildings, ranging from Tate Modern in London to the clock tower of Cardiff City Hall in Wales.

Hi, my girlfriend recently took in a cat that was dumped by its previous owner (who’s unknown but that’s the info we got.) She had taken the cat to the vet and got it tested, Not neutered, no leukemia, rabies, fleas, and she’s less than 3 years old. For the past week my girlfriend’s life has been a living hell with this cat that she had wanted. The cat for starters will hide under her bed and lunge out and shred feet, which me and my gf are victims of.

Hes a collection of 8 or 9 animals. He can activate any of their traits or swap out the limbs of amimals with his own. Hes a main villain so im tryna get some more defensive creatures. But just really dangerous ones would be appreciated. So far i habe 5 out of the 8. They are tiger, silverback gorilla, axolotol, deathstalker scorpion, nile crocodile.

I'm working on a creative project and had some questions that my google searches haven't been yielding any type of answer. This seems like a good place to ask. But the main one being is, would there be a purpose in attempting to corral a group of wild animals? Like keeping them localized to specific areas? Any examples happening in real life of people or organizations doing this for any specific reasons?

Guys is there any hope for the aninals in these countries I see horses, donkeys etc being worked constantly. I've read bad things that happen to stray dogs and cats etc. It all really upsets me and theres nothing I can do. And theres nothing nobody is dping in those type of countries. Really down about this.

I am asking here because I did not find good information on this online. Today I saw a falcon-like bird at my park that was standing still on a fence, sometimes flapping its wings, but constantly screeching. I thought that it might be stuck in the fence, but I inspected its claws and even unloosed the talons to be sure it wasn't. When I approached, the bird did not fly away.

There has been a box turtle that has been living in my backyard for a few weeks now! He just hangs out in different parts of my backyard, but mostly under our large oak tree. I do have a dog and she was the one who discovered the turtle. She caused it no harm besides barking at the turtle due to uncertainty, but I don’t want her to bug the turtle. Is there anything I can do to provide a happy environment for the turtle since he likes to hang out there?

Hello everyone. I don’t know if it’s the right subreddit to ask this thing, but I wouldn’t know where else to ask. I’m currently on vacation. Yesterday afternoon I was swimming in shallow water. I felt something hard (it had a different texture from sand). I immediately thought it might be a a rock. Anyway I decided to pull it out of the sand just because I was pretty sure it was a rock, only to find that it was something hairy and round.
