While visiting the city of Corpus Christi in Texas in November 2023, we were told about a rare bird in the heart of the downtown. We went to the area where it had been reported. We were standing in front of a restaurant. On the other corners were a parking lot, an office building, and a barren, cement-covered lot. Other birders joined us at the stakeout, as we wandered around the area.

(When they actually afford you a whole new blog subject to write about, that is certainly an extra bonus.) For years, I had hoped to see a Lesser Ground-Cuckoo, one of Mexico’s more exotic and difficult species.

There are two questions I get asked a lot. Do you take pictures of the birds you see? Are you a bird-watcher then? The answer to the first question is a resounding no. Shutting down one’s peripheral vision is not my idea of birding. Now you know why I go out without a camera , take horrible pictures but also make friends to allow me the use of their splendid pictures.

rat/mouse diseases.?? I saw a rat/mouse thing like 3 days ago which means there are probably more. There are little scratch type things on my hand and i’m worried they are bites. I know rabies is practically non existent with them (which is rlly good) but I learned there’s something called rat bite fever and other diseases you can get. I now feel like I have a fever and i’m at work so there’s no thermometer it’s not like unbearable but I feel a bit hot and honestly can’t tell if it’s psychosomat

People have a tendency to confuse pigs, pigeons, dogs, gorillas, and monkeys dumb, and I don't understand it. Those are most of the animals called dumb and in reality they are very intelligent. It's not unlikely to hear the phrase "pigeon brain" or "I'm dumber than a monkey." Why do people have such a common misconception?

I’m not complaining, it’s just always seemed odd to me. Animals produce a lot of waste. Consider what you find when you clean your cat box, or cleaning up after your dog. Multiply that by thousands and that’s what we have populating our wild areas here in the North East of the US. Not to mention the size of many of these species. Sure, we see the occasional scat, but it’s never more than a spot or two.

I did not get a photo of them, they are newborns I hope people in Serbia start caring about animals one day. here is a true story to get you a picture: There was this person I think an uncle of my father who grabbed them by the tail and hit there heads with a hammer and threw them in a river. One day when he was grabbing plums from a tree and fell and he had blood coming out of his mouth and was suffering.

Like there is no reason on this beautiful multi coloured planet that a DEER should be that big. A DEER, btw. Like I know ppl are comfortable with elephants and oxen, cause we've been taught their big, but when you think of a deer, you think of smth like a white tailed deer, not a ginormous MOOSE! Like these things are taller than most cars, heck taller than most pick up trucks.

We took Dobby from the shelter three years ago, he had enough problems then and unfortunately his walking has gotten worse now, we have three other dogs and financially I can't handle it all anymore, so for the first time in my life I'm trying to do some sort of campaign/collection, I don't expect to raise the total amount, but every donation will help me fight Dobby's disease - Wobbler's
