Thanksgiving 2010 will be Baby Sky's first, and our opportunity to introduce her to the notion that our family doesn't eat animals (not to mention that other historical story we'll be correcting). There will be no greyhound corpse on our table, no turkey corpse and no pig corpse. There will be no pies or cakes that were made with milk that was meant for calves, or eggs that represent dead male chicks , forced molting, debeaking and other mutilations and cruelties.

Stamps to the Rescue ! Adopt a shelter pet stamps from the postal service were just revealed on the Ellen DeGeneres Show! We love Ellen, not only is she funny and positive, but she has a big heart for animals (especially the ones needing rescue)! So it was no surprise that she would help unveil these great new stamps from the US Postal Service. This campaign continues the Postal Service’s 50+ year tradition of raising awareness of serious social issues with special commemorative stamps.

It’s that time of the year again! The Center for Disease Control recommends people begin getting flu vaccinations in October. On the pet side, the H3N8 virus, or canine influenza, has been a growing concern. H3N8 is the virus that causes flu in dogs, and while there are no known cases of a human catching the flu from their pet, it can be passed from dog to dog.

Baby the Maltese recently got the chance to try out two great coco based products from CocoTherapy , and she has some to share with two lucky readers! She loves it! We let her try a chip, and also tried rubbing a bit of the oil on her ears, which are often irritated. The coconut oil is the only thing that she will actually come over to us to put on her ear, and it doesn’t hurt that she can also like a little from our fingers!

The awesome R2 Fish Training School makes it easy and fun to train your goldfish (or any fish actually, as long as it’s about an inch long). The kit comes with everything you need, including a DVD.
