Baby turtles and crocodiles are born as miniature versions of adults. Some birds do this a little. That is a signal that always says “I’m hungry feed me NAO!”

Birding Lake Kerkini, Greece: Three Lazy Days

Some 320 species have been recorded here, and in springtime it is possible to observe more than 150 bird species in a week. Due to heavy rains many clutches of Great Crested Grebes had failed, but we observed both nests with eggs (and left the area immediately) and adults with chicks, some of them piggy-backing their mothers.

Laight has recorded some 100 species here, including Slavonian (Horned) Grebe and Red-rumped Swallow (the first is a rare migrant/wintering species only, while the second one is an uncommon breeder). Other herons, egrets, gulls and terns are a surprise at this time of the year.
