They look crap but presumably offer some protection for the chicks, though not from each other (see the murderous activities within the nests in my previous post ). He was also nearly strangled by a pet python that he kept. Blue-throated Bee-eaters build nests on sticks sticking out of the water. At between 4 pm and 6 pm, to be exact.
