My fiance and I drove nearly two hours to the Jasper-Pulaski Fish and Wildlife Area in rural Indiana to watch them come in for the evening. But by far the best was witnessing the autumn migration of Sandhill Cranes. The bird in question is one of the world’s most beautiful, rarest and least known seabirds, Barau’s Petrel.

Most of my family lives in Indiana, but thanks to social media we can easily keep in touch. And if a feral cat colony is near an endangered species, the colony should be eliminated. I took my furlough due to the government shut down as a chance to go down to Indiana and visit my family.
