I’d been volunteering at rescues through my young adulthood, and I was training as a cat socializer, teaching terrified felines — the unlucky victims of cruel people — to trust humans again. All of these afflictions are human-caused and largely preventable. One typical, blue-sky, L.A. I was mortified. And, I would have understood.

I then sat at my trusty computer and checkout out the American Veterinary Medical Association's latest report on euthanasia (they publish one every couple of years), and let’s just say that hypothermia and rapid freezing are on a list that includes: strychnine, which causes violent convulsions and painful muscle contractions; drowning, and burning.
