The Factual table I posted yesterday annoyed me a bit, and here's why: the categories "vegan," "vegetarian," and "vegan-friendly." Vegan: Got it. Whether or not vegetarians equate that fact with "friendly" is a different story--it's the people at the establishment who think they're being "friendly."
First I have to say that my husband and I were in our courtyard last night, with wine, vegan pizza with shiitakes, portobellos and chanterelles (still working through that five-pound bag of Daiya cheese), and Diana Krall playing. But today's post is about World Vegan Day, so onward. Some go vegetarian first, then vegan.

Every day, some people switch from meat-based diets to vegetarian diets. Every day, some people make the switch to entirely plant-based vegan diets. All food that comes from plants is cholesterol-free, so a vegetarian or vegan diet does wonders for lowering cholesterol levels. That is when I went vegetarian. Cholesterol is found only in foods derived from animals, like meat, cheese and eggs. My cholesterol levels have always made my doctors happy.
