It’s a celebration befitting 25 years of drastically reducing the euthanasia rate around the country, improving the lives of animals around the world, and setting the stage for a time of No More Homeless Pets. Starting July 19, Best Friends will be having a celebration of their 25th anniversary.
The culprit for this surge in animal homelessness is a testimonial to these trying times: human homelessness. And this all leads to the most unfortunate outcome, euthanasia. And limited public funding means that shelters have to rely on public donations to bear the brunt of rising costs for care and housing of these animals.
AC&C takes in all homeless pets, including the over 120 new animals on the streets every day. AC&C has implemented numerous programs to ensure that as many animals as possible are placed into supportive environments, and adoptions are at an all time high and the euthanasia rate is at the lowest level in New York City history.
