Somewhat strangely, the HBW calls it a “small grey to yellow babbler” – while the species indeed has some grey parts, that is not the color that sticks to mind when seeing or remembering the bird. Plus the sibia apparently plays an important role in the pollination of one endangered rhododendron species ( source ).

Apart from the awful noise, they are cavity nesters and dominate the available nesting spaces to the detriment of indigenous species. Many visitors to Bushy Park in Surrey for example are amazed to find such exotic birds flying free and delight in seeing them feeding acrobatically in the trees.

When I worked for a bird observatory in California I learnt quite a lot about this, for example that the ABA had to change the rules about whether birds counted if you heard them. As for introduced or reintroduced species it would only count if it was third generation reintroduced.
