Not only did I pick up my life Golden Eagle on New Year’s Day, but now the Philadelphia Eagles are going to the Super Bowl. This cooperative bird was found on Saturday in one of the openings in the ice at the south end of the East Pond at Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge and Corey went and saw it on Sunday. How about you?

Corey encountered a bunch of winners, but 24 Common Redpolls at Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge, in almost the exact same spot he saw them a couple of years ago, feeding on birch inflorescence by the East Pond, were easily his best birds of the weekend.
