The festival is now in its 16 th year in the quaint-yet-vibrant town of Fallon, Nevada (about an hour east of Reno), and it draws on the wide array of birds that flock to the area during spring migration. All of these things can be found in Las Vegas, Nevada. He steered me right and there it was, my first life bird in Nevada! Trips Henderson Bird Viewing Preserve Las Vegas Nevada' That is, all of them can be found in Las Vegas except the last one on the list. It looked pretty darn nice through the scope though!

Much like Carrie’s recent experiences being hoodwinked by non-bird sources of birdy-sounding calls , I’ve had my share of animal encounters out in the field. Nothing, however, prepared me for the fauna that awaited last weekend at the Spring Wings festival in Fallon, Nevada. Not yet, knock on wood.)

I’ll be reporting more in the next few days about the coolness that is the Spring Wings Bird Festival , held every year in Fallon, Nevada. There are whole regions of the country from the Great Lakes west to Nevada where official hawkwatching is essentially non-existent, due to lack of migration density, so If you live in one of the places it is possible to see this magical migration you need to grab that opportunity. Closely linked to the spectacle is the ‘quality’ of the birds.
