Pel’s Fishing Owls, Phantoms of the Okavango

We also stumbled upon the largest of Africa’s owls, the colossal Giant Eagle Owl (more recently named Verreaux’s Eagle Owl ) and often heard its pig-like grunting both during the day and at night. Our Pel’s experience deep within the heart of the Okavango was unforgettable. What a beauty! What a place.

Pulling Birds at Panti Forest in Malaysia

Plus, I saw awesome bats, bugs, butterflies, herps, pitcher plants, and four of the five possible monkey species: Dusky Leaf Monkey , Banded Leaf Monkey , Southern Pig-tailed Macaque , and Long-tailed Macaque. All in all, a memorable Malaysian experience. I can’t imagine birding Singapore without making a run to Panti Forest.
