PETA wants to run a campaign that compares factory farming to the Holocaust. The German constitutional court has ruled that animal rights organisation PETA (People for Ethical Treatment of Animals) must end its campaign in which it draws a comparison between the Holocaust and industrial farming.

The animal rights movement is (rightly) closely associated with protesting things like factory farming, dogfighting, etc…basically, the mistreatment of animals. As you can see here , PETA does not even address these issues at all, while portraying themselves as indeed giving a damn. This makes perfect sense.

California dairy farmers have an ad campaign that cows are just darn happy on their factory farms. PETA is not convinced. This article about the situation appears in the Merced Sun-Star which is from my home county of Merced!

I realize that the most humane method of treating chickens is to not kill them for food.BUT, as long as there is still a demand for their meat, PETA is advocating "Controlled-Atmosphere Killing" as an improvement over current methods of electric immobilization. The good news is that if you know someone who needs to be schooled on all of the sordid details of factory farming, and appreciates good writing, this is a great book. Factory farming considers nature an obstacle to overcome" (34). In all fairness, most people's only reference is PETA. Ever, in fact.

Some fight for veganism, some against factory farms, some against experimentation, poaching, habitat encroachment, etc. I also believe that we are a fragmented movement. There is a group for every cause. But how much can we accomplish when our resources are so divided? Who is our leader? Best Friends? The Humane Society?
