I have observed this species many times (my eBird says 28 times this year alone) and never had one landing near me. The last Eurasian Otters were spotted here about the time the construction works started (I have observed them here half a dozen times, and other birders have seen them at least that many times).

White-bellied Parrot was one of many target species at either of the canopy towers. ” At first light, many of the larger canopy species commute and call from the canopy: parrots, cotingas, guans, and toucans. However, there are two main targets in the early afternoon boat ride: South American Tapir and Giant Otter.

Spotting 57 species of birds in the couple of hours we put in to seeking out birds was never so ho-hum in my life. One final stop at a popular park in Queens netted us another nesting species that we only found because they can’t fly yet, Great Horned Owlets. So-so looks at a brown swallow. How exciting. Of course it did.

News flash–I just received the trip report from Carlos, and the tally is 419 species recorded, of which 16 were heard only; plus Ian and I saw an additional species before the tour started, courtesy of Paulo Boute. Oh my gosh! I shouldn’t have been surprised. Any suggestions?

Walking beside the Pasir Ris Park Connector we watched otters playing in the water. There is a massive nest at the top of a tower beside the Sports Centre and a family of Monk Parakeets have taken up residence. We encountered several bird species there including a Yellow-rumped Flycatcher and a nesting Red-breasted Parakeet.

Hundreds of riotously colored birds representing 14 species of macaws and parrots flock and frolic together in less than fifty meters of forest canopy.

A Wood Stork lands in a tree, while one Neotropical River Otter swims across and climbs a floating log. Now we were in Finca Tres Equis, a family cocoa farm (if I understood well, it translates as Triple X Farm) and a private reserve of over 300 hectares, of which more than 70 percent is a forest, representing part of a Jaguar corridor.
