Where I live, there are two species of lemmings, the Brown Lemming ( Lemmus trimucronatus ) and the Collared Lemming ( Dicrostonyx groenlandicus ). A friend of mine saw a family of eight Ermine while hiking this past summer. A Collared Lemming on a Beat Writer’s hand. Did I mention they’re fast?

We took a family outing up to that same Storm King Art Center, which is located about an hour north of New York City in Mountainville, Orange County, last weekend and had an absolute blast. We also observed some evidence of other species breeding.

It’s been nearly three weeks since the family and I left Breckenridge but I’m still thinking about all the birds that we enjoyed from my aunt and uncle’s backyard deck at 10,500 feet above sea level. We spent three days in Breckenridge and each morning I was the first in the family to awaken.
