How many people know this about the Animal Welfare Act? No wonder there is so much "farm" animal abuse out there. Humane treatment runs counter to the entire industry when the point is to make money by processing these animals as fast as possible. This is really interesting. I certainly didn't.
Conditions for farmanimals will not change until meat-eaters start demanding changes themselves. Unfortunately, there are way more of them than there are vegetarians and vegans. If one wants to eat meat, fine, but understand how you are spending your money. Don't live in a cloud.wake up!

As you know, Cheri and Jim are in the early stages of setting up their sanctuary, after a long journey of conscience that began with them closing their dairy goat operation, then transitioning to a vegan way of life, and eventually, creating a loving, lifelong home for farmedanimals in need.

Steiner might feel less lonely as an ethical vegan—he says he has just five vegan friends—if he recognized that he has allies in mere vegetarians (like me), ethical omnivores and even carnivores. We "traditionally" have applied our social mores in some places and not others, and we should go back to "tradition," which I bet has something to do with continuing to care about our dogs while continuing to feign care for "farmanimals," as they're value is as food only. Scott's assumption is that we profit from certain animals.
