This Wood Stork was one of ten species of waders that was taking advantage of a pool that must have been teeming with fish and other underwater food sources. This Turkey Vulture was along the road to Peacocks Pocket, which I highly recommend as a great place from which to watch the sun set. It always pays to keep at least one eye up!

An Early Spring Day Birding Sandy Hook, New Jersey

American Kestrels , Osprey , and Turkey Vultures were the predominant birds, with occasional Sharp-shinned Hawk or Cooper’s Hawk moving as well. We saw far too many Turkey Vultures. I think this Osprey is bragging about how easy it was to catch this fish. That is from where the photo of New York City above was taken.
