It only takes a little imagination to suppose that every bite of hamburger we eat is taking grain away from a hungry child in India. Frances Moore Lappé, in her fine book Diet for a Small Planet , also points out the simplistic thinking that is involved in supposing that going without meat is going to help the starving people of the world.
