The skies were full of thousands of Greylag Geese , Pink-footed Geese , Barnacle Geese and Brent Geese on the move and in the shallow water there were already hundreds of Bar-tailed Godwits , Eurasian Oystercatchers , Dunlin and Eurasian Curlew. Long-eared Owl – This is another owl species that was, like most winters, not seen in Queens (though tantalizing second-hand reports of one at Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge during the Brooklyn CBC reached me). Scaup are so worthless that when you input “I love scaup” into Google you only get four results and three of them are hunting related. At least Barnacle Geese are named for an arthropod. And even if such a bird existed and were endangered no one would want to see it. First, it’s not terribly difficult.
