Here Patch sits on a bench watching a pocket gopher tidy up the front of its burrow. Here she is carrying a squirming gopher over the heads of park-goers who actually notice the spectacle. A lot of nature photographers try to exclude human made elements but I think the porta potty kind of makes the photo.

In German, if you are a rodent and you are smaller than – say – a human hand, you’re a mouse. No “gophers” etc. The Common Buzzards , for example, who usually hunt by circling high above the landscape, will hover in kestrel fashion much more frequently. You’re not a vole or a gerbil.
