Our last two hamsters passed away in September and are now buried under some berry bushes. Since then, I've been looking for another dwarf hamster (I currently have two teddy bear hamsters, Doris and Heidi). Finally, on Sunday, I found one at our animal shelter. Tags: hamsters. Our new Russian dwarf is named LOU!
All companion animals including dogs, cats, hamsters, mice, rats, chinchillas, guinea pigs, birds, snakes, and lizards would be considered as pets. If it passes, San Francisco residents would have to go to a shelter or rescue group to adopt an animal. Pet sales would be banned altogether, except for the sale of pet fish.
We are like an ad agency for shelters and shelter pets. Sadly there are 4 million healthy adoptable companion animals killed in shelters each year due to overcrowding. We do our best to relieve that problem and put pets from shelters in the homes of pet seekers all over the country.
Cats and dogs are the most popular pets, along with hamsters, rabbits and guinea pigs also being amongst the favourites. It’s important to provide goats with a shelter to protect them from the elements. Have you considered keeping goats as pets? A shed with an open doorway is a popular choice as they are relatively warm and dry inside.
Guinea pigs also do not bite, unlike hamsters and gerbils which can tend to be nippy. Many mutts you can get from the pound or animal shelter make terrific pets. I strongly encourage people to adopt pound and shelter animals. For these folks, I recommend a nontraditional pet like a rat or a guinea pig. Purebred or mixed breed?
Santa Hamster. Yes, an hamster wearing a Santa hat! Oh, FYI, I bought myself this hamster pillow for a pre-Christmas gift and it is even more adorable in person. Oh, and did I mention that it comes from Shop For Shelters? Feel great about buying this gift because part of the money will help shelter pets in need.
