From Barnes and Noble : "Wirral the Squirrel is homeless. I'm giving the book a vegan/animal rights message because that's my lens. So there's a pro-environment/anti-development message in the book that, for me, is clearer than the animal rights message. I don't get a sense that readers really understand the message.

While it is laudable to point out the plight of homeless woodpeckers, this is hardly the right subject for an upbeat bird photo contest. Indeed, it would have been a great entry for a contest titled “Lamps in the City”, but a failure for a bird photo contest. Every bird photo should tell a story, not just show a bird.
