Achieving humanetreatment of animals is inconceivable with our big, popular universities teaching the opposite! Thank you for making it possible to represent the animals' -- including the human animal's -- interests!
Formed in 2007, this organization seeks to promote the humanetreatment of animals by promoting effective animal sanctuary management. Led by professionals who have experience with organizations such as the Humane Society of the United States, the group is definitely not new to the issues surrounding animals worldwide.

To the Editor: Re “ A Disgraceful Farm Bill ” (editorial, May 16): While the farm bill recently approved by Congress deals with enormous agricultural policy issues, it also includes three important provisions to protect animal welfare. Enforcement has been inconsistent at best. These new penalties would give the law some much needed teeth.
