The number of people who hunt waterfowl in the US has declined since the mid 1990s. This has benefited both the waterfowl hunters and everyone else who likes ducks and their kin. Federal funding for conservation is dependent on the revenue raised by selling the duck stamps, a unique dynamic for wildlife managers in the United States.

We have a simple solution to raise more money for the National Wildlife Refuge System. million hunters. Duck hunting is big business in the United States. Well, inspired by the success of this program, 10,000 Birds contributor Larry Jordan is part of an effort to create a Wildlife Conservation Stamp that would share some of the same goals as the duck stamp, but perhaps be a little more palatable to people who don’t hunt birds.

These conditions offered easy access to hunters in a habitat where a bird as large as a Guan would have little chances to hide or scape.
