Bald Eagles will provide a sporting challenge for hunters. Hunters don’t even need to use decoys. However they are wary and have famously sharp eyes, so bagging eagles will be a true sporting challenge for hunters. We need to give hunters new opportunities and new species to hunt.

Hunters frequently refer to them as “Rib-eye in the Sky” due to the excellent taste. ” On Dr. Gassett’s answering machine, which someone calling to protest the hunt is likely to encounter, is a similar message about the quality of crane meat. Rather, he said it was entirely about giving hunters the chance to hunt cranes.

Which wasn’t a surprise, since everyone on the commission is a hunter. Thousands of letters and emails of protest apparently fell on deaf ears. Kentucky’s wildlife offices have been flooded with protests, whether written, telephoned or emailed. Not surprising, but certainly disappointing.

I won’t pick a fight with hunters, as long as they eat what they shoot and don’t use lead ammunition. Here is a direct (and unedited) quote: “… keep in mind the main reason why experienced crow hunters got into the sport in the first place, Fun. I am not anti-hunting. Plain old fashioned Fun.”.

of Fish and Wildlife Commissioner Jon Gassett has indicated that if enough people write in protest, the proposed hunting season–due to start this December– will be reconsidered. Nationwide, wildlife watchers now outspend hunters 6 to 1. Hunters and fish and wildlife departments having a stake in Sandhills is a great thing.

In other news, PETA received more publicity for their anti seal hunting campaign when one of their protesters was hit in the face with a pie. Tags: seal hunters PETA. This after a PETA activist hit Canada Fisheries Minister Gail Shae with a pie. That's good, because I really hate Canada's odious seal hunt.
