New moral vegetarianism, however, rests on moral arguments couched in terms of human welfare. It only takes a little imagination to suppose that every bite of hamburger we eat is taking grain away from a hungry child in India. Nobody wants existing animals to be slaughtered. These differences aside, is the argument valid?
