Young, non-breeding Swifts investigating nest sites. One tagged individual spent 15 days in Liberia, before flying 5,000km in five days to reach its nesting site in southern England. On their northern passage they migrate across the Gulf of Guinea, refuelling in West Africa before making the final move back to Europe.
