It is a very nice bit of science. The hypothesis being tested is that high ambient levels of radiation will cause greater production of reactive oxygen in birds, which in turn will stress neural tissue growth processes resulting in smaller brains. For the seabirds of this area of Japan, this could be a Tern for the worse.
