You can easily get there via public transport by taking the train to Lara from either Geelong or Melbourne if you do not have access to a vehicle. It is free to enter Serendip Sanctuary and as you drive or walk up the road into the parking area there are opportunities to see kangaroos and wallabies as you can see above.

The picnic area offers good opportunities to encounter Grey Kangaroos and they are particularly large animals. Grey Kangaroos at the Mundaring Weir picnic area. Sadly C Y O’Connor was criticized for his ideas and took his own life before the water had travelled the length of the pipe to reach Kalgoorlie.

Herdsman Lake is very good if you only have access to public transport and will offer great birds like Blue-billed Ducks and Musk Ducks , but if you have a vehicle you should try and visit the Perth Hills National Parks and also Yanchep National Park. The other big attraction for visitors to the park is the large population of Grey Kangaroos.
