Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve: the Tiger Afternoon

Our guide explains that it was discovered by tiger cubs and taken off to play with, hence the claw and tooth marks. All of a sudden, in a hushed voice he says one word only: “Tigers!”

Tiger Killed in India

A tiger was found dead outside the Kohra forest range of Kaziranga on Saturday, sparking suspicions of revenge killing by angry residents of adjoining villages. The tiger was aged between seven and eight and may have died around two days ago. We found the ninth rib of the tiger broken and partially calcified.

Tiphys died either of a snakebite or of a mysterious illness but he was not killed by either a tiger or a rhinoceros. I guess he should have stuck with the substantially less dangerous trogons. Lucky him, right? Though he ended up dead anyway.
