OK, it doesn't have a lot to do with "critters" per se, other then the fact that it deals with That One that approves of killing wolves and polar bears. And hey, the title also uses the word vet in TWO different ways that don't mean veterinarian. And it's really really funny.
Flat flies and vulture vomit: either one can send an otherwise cheerful vet technician running from the room. Because whenever I encounter one of these insects I’m either trying to avoid it or kill it, not take a picture of it, and this was the only uncopywrited photo I could find.
I took in a Warrior Queen Red-tailed Hawk hit by car (WQ RTHA HBC) who awed me with her strength and ferocity, but irritated me with her habit of trying to kill me every time I opened her crate. On top of all her other chores, Donna had to swing by the vet (yet again) to pick up medicine for him.
It took her several minutes to kill and eat it. I called my vet, all my fellow rehabbers, and I posted for help in the Wildlife Rehabbers Blog Group on Facebook. I am terrified of spiders. Of course, after seeing it was a spider, the first thing that came to my mind was “Ahh, Lilly saved me from that vile thing!”
He visits Arizona's Road Kill Cafe, where the menu features not-so-exotic fare. And he meets people who consume things you would not find on the menu even at the Road Kill, like frog smoothies and tarantulas -- the former because it supposedly increases virility and the latter for medicinal purposes.
The RSPCA believes: " at least 20 greyhounds a day - either puppies which do not make the track, or 'retired' dogs aged three or four - simply 'disappear', presumed killed " Many vets will admit to killing healthy greyhounds – by definition it cannot be classed as euthanasia – for a cut price fee, for fear the dogs will be disposed of in a less humane (..)
One of those is vet bills, which of course aren't deductible, but that doesn't mean I shouldn't know the total. But then I wasn't able to put that theory into practice once weighed against, say, the millions of dogs and cats who are going to be killed for the brutal crime of homelessness.
Dr. Newest Vet sent this to me from yesterday's day at "camp" for Charles. And then it proceeds to: "None of these questions, however, make any consideration of whether it is wrong to kill animals for human consumption." CharlesCamp1 from Mary Martin on Vimeo (which it looks like I'm going to have to upgrade to improve the picture).
The no-kill shelter I adopted them from didn’t know too much about them except that they were found half-starved in the Jasper area after Hurricane Rita tore through areas of the east Texas coast. Before I ever started with the training of Juliet and Foxy, I arranged for vet appointments. Get Them Healthy First.
And the two species were not inclined to get on, by which I mean that Lions will kill other large predators including Painted Wolves. Something was clearly badly wrong with both of his back legs, I’m no vet, but I would guess they had both been broken. And Pippa, our biologist, was very concerned. Her concern was well founded.
They pointed out the puncture wounds, likely infected with bacteria that could quickly kill. But, we’re facing a world of shrinking biodiversity and depressingly-high bird kill numbers that demand an accounting outside of our self interest. They simply helped me with my bird. Caring for our own is an element of survival.
The latter is even captured in a somewhat gruesome video , in which the hornbill plucks a caged bird out of its cage and kills and eats it. At 15h59, the female picked up the fourth chick and killed it by repeatedly crushing it with her beak. Then she tried to feed it to the remaining chicks.
We took her to the vet and put her on medication, and somehow she pulled through. We released live mice into the flight so they could learn to catch and kill live prey. The two older ones were in pretty good shape, but we were not sure the third would make it. She was open-mouth breathing, and we believed she had aspirated formula.
Similarly, these ingredients may increase parasite infection, increasing the money you must spend on vet care and pet medications. Your vet can advise you about your dog’s specific nutritional needs, and you should always check the label to see what exactly is in the food you feed your dog. Cooked bones can splinter and kill your dog.
Then there's her hideous gum disease that has left her few remaining teeth in bad shape but without much to do for them (the vets won't touch them). We spent the end of 2004 and beginning of 2005 getting fired by vet after vet. She spent week after week at the vet, day in and day out. She's our 62-pound miracle.
Most likely orphaned by poachers who killed her mother for profit, the one-year-old baby is believed to have been subsequently attacked by local Maasai tribesmen who were angry about losing their traditional grazing land to the park. A mobile vet unit was able to tranquilize her, clean her wounds, and extract the spear.
