North Carolina law will require veterinarians to report gabapentin use

As part of Governor Roy Cooper’s North Carolina Opioid Action Plan, a new law will require the state’s veterinarians to report the use of gabapentin even though it is not a controlled substance. HB 190 goes into effect March 1, 2024, for pharmacies and March 1, 2025, for veterinarians.

Supreme Court upholds California sow housing law

Supreme Court justices upheld the California ballot initiative Proposition 12 as constitutional, and that the state could establish its own rules on meat sold in the state, even if that means that products produced outside of the state must comply with the law. Full implementation begins at the beginning of next year.
