Madagascar, however, has had more than its fair share of extinct or lost species and Madagascar Pochard was firmly on this list. A nicer name for the species is Chinese Painted Quail (since when are kings so diminutive in size?). The big dark eyes in a lighter face give it a lemur-like appearance. Though in this case, a lemur posing on a treetop at least 10 meters above the ground. The King Quail is cute and surprisingly small.
