The existing villagers joined with the newcomers organizing a whip-round to raise money in the hope of buying it. All terrain vehicle enthusiasts ripped swathes through the wild flowers and fireraisers left the burnt out shuck of a car, so there will almost certainly be work parties to clear the litter and debris. Just try and stop me!

Even so, he still knew many species and always yearned to learn about the wildlife he encountered. There were also grouse, the Ruffed Grouse , and like so many other species, it just seemed impossible that I would ever see one. The remaining four species are the most grouse-like of the bunch. Bushwacking? Not in this place.

They diverged at approximately the same time as the rockjumpers (two quite unique bird species endemic to Southern Africa and now in their own family), and as a result for a while were even placed in the same family. Forest cover in both species’ ranges is being destroyed at an unsustainable rate and these birds’ populations are dwindling.

Upon arrival we were given strict and non-flexible rules: never go even one inch off the ice paths, never allow the tiniest piece of litter to escape, never interact in any way with the wildlife, and cause absolutely no environmental damage. The justification was ridiculously laughable: in order to further study the species.

Doggy bags (can also be used for cat litter clean-up). Make sure you ask if they have any limitations on the number, size, species or breeds they allow.

Tika and her longtime mate, Kobuk, had raised eight litters of puppies together and were enjoying their retirement years in the home of my friend, Anne. Stories about animals rescuing members of their own and other species, including humans, abound. As we all know, dogs are “man’s best friend.”

Predators that rely on lemmings, like the Snowy Owl , took advantage of the bounty and had great breeding success, raising large broods which, after the lemming population crashes, dispersed far and wide. Females become less likely to rebuff male advances, and copulation takes place quickly without much fanfare.
